How Does Wind Power Works? (and how you can save $200 year)

When it comes to wind energy, it seems that the bigger the diameter of the blades, the more power you will be able to produce. This is due to the fact that more wind can be caught when the blade has a larger surface area. It should be noted that there are other factors to consider when figuring how what size blades to use for your generator. Basically, large wind turbine blades will not be effective if your generator is small and wimpy.

Wind Power Generator

The blades are attached to the shaft of a wind energy generator. These blades begin to turn due to the passing wind, which forces the wind generator’s shaft to rotate. This shaft rotation is responsible for the motor generating electricity.

Specific types of motors will work better for wind turbines than others. It is a good idea to choose one that can create a good deal of energy using a low amount of revolutions per minute, or RPM’s, while still having high enough voltage. The revolution count is important since it controls how fast the blades will have to turn in order for the wind turbine to produce any wind energy. Therefore, you want a generator with a low RPM requirement so that it will still work even when the wind isn’t very strong.

Conversion of Wind Energy

It may still seem confusing how you will be able to generate electricity. The wind generator is really nothing more than an electric motor. If you took the generator and connected it to a battery (or other form of electricity), it would start to spin the shaft like any motor could. Motors operate in both directions. Therefore, if you spin the blades, and therefore the shaft of the motor, it will operate in the reverse direction to generate electrical power through its terminals. Wind turbine generators are simply motors that are working in the opposite direction to produce electricity

Save $200 Each Year Using Wind Energy

Many neighborhoods all over the globe are seeing a popularity in tiny wind turbines. They can be installed on the roof of a home or other location with ease. Due to a simple design, many home owners are able to construct their own wind turbines for an investment under $100.

Also, the turbine will not take several years to become worth its investment. You can easily save up to $200 or more on average by using a small wind energy turbine, depending on the amount of energy you use and your location. By six months, your turbine should definintely how paid itself off and be saving you money month after month.

Hopefully you now have a better understanding of wind energy. It is important that you learn how to properly choose wind turbine blades and the process for converting the wind power into electricity. This knowledge should assist you in saving money on your power bill by using wind energy.
